Engagement rate calculator

Enter your followers (or reach) and the likes, comments, shares and saves on a few posts. Get the rate for each post and the average. Works for any platform. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

A big number of likes means little without the audience behind it.

How to use it

  1. Choose whether to measure against followers or reach, and enter that number.
  2. Add the interactions for each post. Add more rows for more posts.
  3. Read the rate for each post and the average.

Good to know

  • Engagement rate by followers answers "how much of my audience reacts"; by reach answers "how much of the people who saw it reacted". Pick one and keep using it, so your numbers compare.
  • Average several posts. One viral post or one flop says little.
  • Compare with your own past posts first. Rates differ a lot by platform and by account size, so a rival's figure is a weak target.

About the Engagement rate calculator

How is engagement rate calculated?

Add up the interactions on a post (likes, comments, shares and saves), divide by followers or by reach, and multiply by 100. The average is the same sum over several posts.

Followers or reach?

Followers is easy to find and the usual public comparison. Reach, the number of people who actually saw the post, is fairer for a single post, and most platforms show it in their analytics.

What is a good engagement rate?

It depends on the platform, the size of the account and the kind of post, so we don't give a single number. Track your own rate over time and compare like with like.

Which interactions count?

Here: likes, comments, shares and saves. Leave a box empty if the platform doesn't show it.
